Long before the Village opened in Kerala, Softouch brought authentic South-Indian Ayurveda to 25 centres across the Middle East, Europe and Africa — with partners like Kempinski, Le Méridien, Damac and Grecotel. Today we operate at Kempinski San Lawrenz in Malta, alongside our flagship Ayurveda Village in Kerala.

Our European home — a premium Ayurveda & wellness retreat on the Adriatic at Pomer, Pula (Istria), managed by Softouch. Sea-view suites, authentic Kerala therapies and online doctor consultations, bringing the Softouch standard to the Mediterranean.

From Kovalam to the world
The Softouch brand was founded in 1992 at ITDC Kovalam in Kerala, with a mission to make luxury Ayurvedic treatment accessible to a global audience. That ambition soon reached far beyond India’s shores.
After Reto Wittwer, then CEO of Kempinski, visited our Kovalam centre and recognised the potential of authentic Ayurveda within luxury resorts, Softouch opened the Emirates’ first luxury Ayurveda spa at the Kempinski Hotel Ajman. It was the beginning of a decade of international growth.
Partners and destinations
A legacy of 25 Ayurveda centres, with hospitality’s most respected names.
Over the following decade, Softouch grew to twenty-five Ayurveda centres across six countries. In the UAE we partnered with Blazon, Al Maha, Kempinski, Le Méridien and Damac; in Andorra with the Sport Hotel Hermitage; in Barcelona with Le Méridien; and more widely across Europe with Kempinski in Malta and Sofia. In Djibouti we worked with Kempinski, and throughout Greece with Grecotel.
Many of these international spas paused during the pandemic. Today Softouch operates at Kempinski San Lawrenz in Malta — alongside our flagship Village in Kerala — and we hope to reopen further destinations in the years ahead.

Creta Palace
On the Cretan Riviera near the Venetian harbour of Rethymno, this beachfront paradise is home to the Elixir Thalassotherapy Spa, where Softouch brought dedicated Ayurveda and yoga treatments that bring body, mind and soul into harmony.

Amirandes
The carefree spirit of the Elixir Spa at Amirandes Resort — soothing pastel tones, individually designed suites and a selection of Ayurvedic and European therapies, with extensive wellness facilities including an Olympic-size seawater pool.

Cape Sounio
In the heart of Greece, this retreat brought Ayurveda to life with three treatment rooms and India-trained therapists offering bespoke Ayurvedic facial and body treatments, complemented by a sauna, hydro-pool and gym.

Kos Imperial Thalasso
Set in Psalidi with breathtaking views of the Aegean, the resort blends classical Greek and medieval architecture. Softouch's fifth Greek location, based since 2010 at the Grecotel Kos Imperial Thalasso, was devoted to the healing therapies of Hippocrates and Ayurvedic wisdom.

The heart returns home
That global journey taught us a great deal — but it also drew us back to where Ayurveda began. In June 2023 we brought everything we had learned home to Kerala, opening Softouch Ayurveda Village & Resort as a small, boutique operation focused on deeply individualised care rather than a commercial model. In September 2025 the Village earned NABH accreditation — India’s highest benchmark for healthcare quality.
The worldwide spas showed the world what Softouch could do. The Village in Kerala is where we do it best — at the source, under one roof, with resident doctors, master therapists and 18 acres of riverfront calm.
